Everyday farm safety heroes the focus for Farm Safety Week

Everyday farm safety heroes are the focus of the latest campaign from Safe Ag Systems to coincide with Farm Safety Week 2018.

Recognising that agriculture remains one of the most dangerous industries in Australia, Safe Ag Systems will focus on the positive aspects of farm safety to promote actions farmers can take to improve their own safety culture.

In 2018, National Farm Safety Week will run from July 16-22. During the five days of National Farm Safety Week, Safe Ag Systems will be publishing case studies of everyday farm safety heroes designed to encourage farmers to view things on their own farms from a slightly different perspective.

These will be emailed directly to clients but will also feature on a dedicated section of the Safe Ag Systems website, as well as on its Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn channels, which will host a suite of handy hints and fact sheets in coming months of 2018.

Safe Ag Systems chief executive officer Katy Landt said it was encouraging to hear from farmers who have implemented safety measures on their own farms and had begun promoting culture change within their peer groups.

“Farm safety is something we should all be mindful of year-round, but having a dedicated week allows us to educate farmers and the broader public on some of the major safety issues and encourage some positive practice change,” she said.

“Our everyday farm safety heroes have demonstrated that making change on-farm does not need to be time-consuming or difficult, but the impacts can be far-reaching and significant.

“At Safe Ag Systems, we have developed some tools to help farmers develop a workplace culture of safety.”

“The theme of National Farm Safety Week in 2018 highlights the importance of business and industry working together to increase the well-being of Australian farmers through innovation and improved attention to health and safety outcomes, which fits perfectly with what we’ve created through our software.”
