A Western Australian sheep meat processor, owned by farmers, is making major upgrades to its Katanning plant backed by the Western Australian Government’s Co-operative Loans Scheme.
A $3 million Government loan will allow the WA Meat Marketing Co-operative (WAMMCO) to build vital infrastructure to expand its export and domestic markets, and improve environmental efficiencies.
Developments include a new vacuum-packing machine, reconfiguring of boning and mutton rooms, and planned installation of a water recycling plant.
More than $80 million in loans has been provided to support established primary producer co-operatives throughout Western Australia to purchase or upgrade assets, since the scheme was established in 2004.
