Top crop award winners at Pittsworth Show

Pittsworth cropping family the Petersen’s have won the sorghum section at 2017’s Pittsworth Show crop competition.

Clinton Petersen, who runs the property Robsley, accepted the sorghum champion award on the weekend of 18 and 19 March 2017 for their crop of MR-Buster.

Second place in sorghum was secured by Brazil Farming Co, Trifel, Brookstead, and third was taken by Mike Brosnan, Wynolia, Clifton.

In the wheat category, Pittsworth operation, the Hood family, Plainview, won the wheat champion title with EGA Gregory.

DC Saal Pty Ltd, Glenmore, Pittsworth, were awarded second and McLean Farms, Broxburn, Pittsworth, scooped third.

The annual competition features seven categories, including winter crops dryland wheat, dryland barley and dryland chickpea, and summer crops dryland sorghum, dryland cotton, irrigated cotton and irrigated maize.
